LOST IN NYC

This is an ongoing series of candid street portraits in and about the city.

In this collection of square-format portraits, many of the people I capture in New York City seem somehow lost—whether geographically, mentally, or even physically. It’s that fleeting moment of disorientation, the split second before they recognize you, when the shutter clicks.

In that instant, an unexpected intimacy emerges—a silent connection with a stranger you will likely never see again. For a brief moment, they open up as if they were in the most private of spaces, even though they are, in reality, surrounded by the relentless chaos of the city—one of the least private environments imaginable.

This series focuses on those in-between moments, where people momentarily let their guard down in a public space. It captures expressions that might otherwise go unnoticed, leaving us to wonder: What might they be thinking in this very moment?
